Long Distance Vibs

I must have been sending out vibs to others across the country.  I was blessed with emails from New York and Wisconsin.  Ashley sent cute pictures of Liz.  How darling she is.  They say pictures are worth a thousand words.  I guess that is why the internet and blogging is so much fun!  Keep sending Ashley!!  Especially for families it is fun.  Then, I got a most unusual letter from Cathy.  She sends me all kinds of "funnies" but doesn't write often so I was glad to hear from her.  Yay Cathy!  Her grandbaby and the littlest car girl have bds real close.
Yesterday, the middle car girl was up and we had an art session.  She painted a really nice picture but took it home so I did not get to scan it, which I had planned to do.
Anyway, it was nice to connect with relatives, even distantly.  How remarkable the internet is for that purpose.  You all keep sending!

Paper Puppets or Dolls?

Today I finished up some paper dolls I have been thinking and working on.  Meet Joy who is sooo colorful, and Healthy who is...well healthy looking, and Happy who I hope will remind me to keep thinking "happy."

SPring?

I have loved the sunny weather this afternoon.  It smacks of spring.  I am not thinking of the very thick frost that covered the wooden deck this morning, nope.  I am just gonna say, wow, I am feeling spring in that there sunshine!

Trip to the Village

I am reading a book about enhancing creativity.  The author recommends daily journal writing, daily walks, and weekly artist dates.  So, on Fridays, I try to go to the village and do something "different" while I am there.  The idea being you have to expose yourself to new experiences in order for you to have many ideas and visuals for your artistic endeavors.  I think this is true.  I know we are creatures of habit, and will also take the easy route, when we don't think about it or don't have to.  The problem with this is where we live and my age.  It seems like I pretty much have done most of everything around here except maybe go to church on a regular basis.  So, when it warms up a bit, I may try the east village where there might be a bit more things I haven't done before to be found.  A temporary list:  The Western Museum, the library over there,  the new dinasaur museum, DI, a massage, the new rec center.  Hmmmmm....now that is six weeks worth of dates.  LOL  Anyone have any suggestions for me?

Sun Worshippers

My sister Marianne and I, and possibly Berniece although I don't remember her being involved, always said we must have had sun worshippers in our ancestry.  The exact words were "we come from a long line of sun worshippers."  We were always ones to be outside in the sun whenever possible.  Today, as I sit in my chair and the sun is shining on me, I thought of this.  The sun feels so warm and comforting in this early part of the year that has been so cold up to now.  The cats and the dog too, feels better when it shines, and find spots on the floor to lie and allow the sun to do it's magic, whatever that is.  The sleepy rather dreamy feeling one gets as they bask in the sun is nice.
I enjoyed going to the littlest car girl's second birthday party on Monday evening.  It was fun to see four of my grand girls and my own kids, which I seldom get to see.
Today, I worked on a collage using pictures that reminded me of my life from 0 to 5 years.  I do not have many memories of that age, so I thought, but actually did find quite a few representational ones once I started searching for some.  I found one of a mother reading to her small child, cat pictures, kids playing in the dirt, sledding, skating, tea, a cranky looking father type one, one to represent 2 sisters, the sun, and one of a little girl bathing by an old cast iron cook stove. Probably a couple of others I forgot, but the collage was kinda fun to do.
I also started to make a cover for the ottoman that the cats have shredded on all four corners.  My heart does not seem to be in to this, tho, as I left it barely started.
I also made four ATCs for swapping in a flower theme.
So goes my life on the hill.

Little Car Girl

I was visited by the littlest car girl Thurs. and Fri.  On Thurs. we had a snack, colored, played peek-a-boo, and watched so videos of little kids on youtube and watched ourselves on the puter.  On Fri.  we had a snack, and was starting to boot up the puter cam, and she went to sleep, so no play this day.
DH came home early from work so we went to town to get the weeks shopping done.  He mostly bought pop for the shop.  I bought some things material from the scratch and dent shop to play with.  I really need to repair the chair and ottoman that the cats have shredded, so I bought some upholstery material for that.  I know the cats are going to shred again so didn't want to spend a whole lot of money.  I don't know how difficult it will be to make covers for the pieces but what the hey, I will give it a try.
We watch American Idol now, it is so much better than the shoot them up/CSI weeklies...at least to me.  Also, we started watching Survivor...who knew?? and the Great Race.  I laugh at this because we hated them when they first come on but, desperation forced us to start watch.  The least of two evils so to speak.  Now, we like them, lol.

Life Around Here

I spend my time up here on this hill, mostly by myself.  I have enjoyed not having to be at work and being around lots of people.
I am planning another art retreat journey for April.  It will be in Colorado Springs.  It is all about doing things with textiles, which I have been trying to get back into somewhat.  I made some fabric postcards for a challenge and some 8.5x11 in quilts for another challenge, by fibre and quilt magazines.  I sent the post cards to the car girls and they arrived today. YaY!  The mini quilts will not return to me until October.  I might win some art supplies or something, at the very least be published.  Woo Hoo, lol.
Dana, I have lots of beading magazines for you if you want to view good ideas.  Give me a call and let me know how to communicate with you.  Have you stopped having an email? If not give me an email.  I feel so lost about getting in contact with you since I never come to town and when I do it seems you are out of town, lol.  I do check your blog to see what's new.  I am concerned about Lizard. ????  Let me know the scoop on that please.  I have not wanted to say this stuff on the blog but how else?  Let's get together and do something!

Home Again Home Again

We drove south to get in some warmer weather.  It was nice.  The warm degrees of 75 was enjoyable.  My arthritis liked it too.  Now that we have been home a couple of days, its back.  Grrrrr!  Our trip was very uneventful and boring actually.  The only high light was getting to shop in the Blick art shop, and hitting a couple of thrift shops and yard sales.  I got lots of new art supplies which is fun.  I bought a box of inkpencils.  They are supposed to work like artist inks but they are like colored pencils.  I will have fun playing with those.  I am very very glad to be safe at home again.  Bubba survived the trip in great shape, and I think he enjoyed the trip more than anyone. lol
